BRTA’s 50th Anniversary Buses

The Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (BRTA) is turning 50 this year and we would not be here without our customers and communities that support local public transport.

The BRTA was awarded (5) 35’ heavy duty Gillig Diesel-Electric Hybrid buses with BAE Series-ER propulsion system buses in the past 2 years as part of President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law under the Federal Transit Administration’s Low or No Grant Program. We received 3 of these buses earlier this year.

One of the ways to celebrate this 50th year milestone, the BRTA has wrapped these new buses with retro graphic designs from BRTA buses in the 1970’s, 1980’s, and 1990’s as a way to look back to our history of carrying Berkshire County residents.

These buses will be launched and put into service over the coming weeks. If you see them and want to hop aboard, we would love to transport you.

There will be many more ways we will share this celebration with our community over the next year. More to come…
