Bus Service Change for Route 4 (Dalton-Hinsdale)

Due to customer feedback, the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (BRTA) is announcing a change to the fixed route bus service for Pittsfield. At the Tyler Street Business Group’s Open House, a need to provide bus service to the Springside neighborhood was discussed. After reviewing this request BRTA’s bus routes will still provide service to Tyler Street and will access an additional neighborhood. It was determined that implementing this route change will neither cost additional money, nor would it affect our current riders.

Beginning Monday, April 4, 2016 the Route 4 (Dalton-Hinsdale) bus will service Springside and Elberon Avenues for a 6 month pilot program. Traveling inbound to the Intermodal Transportation Center (ITC) the bus will: depart Rose Manor, take a right onto Elberon, continue onto Springside Avenues, and take a left left onto North Street to the ITC. The bus traveling outbound from the ITC will: head onto North, Wahconah, Charles, and North Streets, then onto Springside, and continue to Elberon Avenues into Rose Manor. From Rose Manor the Route 4 bus will travel as before.

The BRTA operates primarily on a flag stop policy, with some restricted bus stop areas. Persons wishing to board the bus must wave to the bus operator. Buses will stop to pick up or discharge customers wherever it is safe to do so.

Specific schedule or route information may be obtained by contacting the operations department at 1-800-292-BRTA extension 1.
