2023 Sale of Surplus Transit Vehicles

The Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (BRTA) is requesting offers for the sale of used surplus public transit vehicles.

All Lots will be sold as is, where is. Vehicles will be sold with a bill of sale and transfer of title. All vehicles must be towed from the BRTA premises, without exception.

All Lots must be towed from BRTA property, by the awardee, within 15 business days after award notification. Repair, scrap, or salvage activities will not be permitted at any time while the vehicle or equipment resides on BRTA property.

All Lots are available for inspection by appointment only on weekdays between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM at the BRTA Operations/Maintenance Facility (located at 67 Downing Parkway, Pittsfield MA) from January 3, 2023, until January 26, 2023.

Award of Sale will be provided to the highest value submission for each Lot at the close of the sale period. All lots will be sold separately- no bulk/group offers will be accepted. No offers will be accepted after the offer deadline has elapsed.

  • Sealed offer submission(s) must be received by the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority (located at 1 Columbus Ave, Pittsfield, MA 01201) no later than: 4:00 PM on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
  • If notified of successful award, the awardee must provide certified bank check or money order payment to BRTA within ten (10) business days after award and awardee must remove vehicle from BRTA property within fifteen (15) business days after award.

The Authority reserves the right to accept or reject any and all submissions, and to waive informalities and irregularities as it deems in its best interest. Sale Schedule

  1. Sale Opens: Monday, January 1, 2023
  2. Advertisements: online at BRTA website
  3. Inspection Period: By appointment, 9:00am-4:00pm, from Jan 3, 2023, until Jan 26, 2023.
  4. Submission Deadline: Before 4:00 PM January 31st, 2023
  5. Submission Opening: At 12:00 PM on February 1, 2023
  6. Awardees Notified: Before 4 PM on February 1, 2023
  7. Awardees Payment: Before 4 PM on February 15, 2023
  8. Awardees must remove vehicles: Before 4:00 PM, February 22, 2023
